Telecom Commission clears in-flight connectivity

The Telecom Commission of India has approved the proposal of providing in-flight connectivity for data and voice services. The proposal was floated last year by the Department of Telecom.

Announcing the decision, Civil Aviation Minster Suresh Prabhu said that these are "Exciting times ahead in Indian skies as Telecom Commission approved data and voice services in flights over Indian airspace."

The proposal has already been cleared by Home Ministry and with the Telecom Commission clearing the proposal, flyers can expect these services to be available in near future. The pricing of provding these services has been left to individual airlines as of now.
